Transfer Tony Awad adds depth to Stingers' men's soccer program

Head coach Greg Sutton is pleased to announce goalkeeper Tony Awad from Oakville, Ont. has committed to the Concordia Stingers men's soccer program.

Awad represented the University of Waterloo in 2021, playing in four games. He will train with the Stingers this fall and will be eligible to compete in 2023.

When transferring between Canadian universities, a student-athlete is required by U Sports to sit out one year.

“Tony will use this first year here to help him and our group get to know each other better through training,” said Sutton. “When he is eligible in the fall of 2023, we are confident he will bring us more quality in the goalkeeping position. He is a well-rounded goalkeeper with a great attitude and work ethic which I believe will translate into great success for him and our team.”

In his youth, Awad played with the Oakville Soccer Club. More recently, he represented the Burlington Soccer Club.
