Parties, kids' fun zone and more at football opener

Football is back on campus with the Concordia Stingers hosting the Sherbrooke Vert & Or in the 2018 home-opener on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Concordia Stadium.

It’s shaping up to be one of the biggest events of the year both on and off the field. The newly energized Swarm is calling on all Stinger fans to gather for a pregame party at the stadium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a barbecue, ice cream, face-painting, beer, swag, etc. You can find out more about the party and the Swarm on Facebook under the name “Concordia Swarm”.

This year, the Stingers have added a Fun Zone for families. It will be run by the Concordia Summer Camp staff and located on the field behind the stadium. The idea is to provide children five years old and up the opportunity to participate in a variety of organized activities, while parents and guardians enjoy the football game. Younger children are also welcome, but require parental supervision.

Activities include: corn hole toss, pickleball or badminton, bouncy castle for children (6 and under), face painting, parachute games, flag football and soccer.

On the field, many of your favorite star players are back in uniform. This year new head coach Brad Collinson has the team energized and ready to put on a great show.

Don’t forget you can buy tickets to this game and all the Stingers’ home events online. Premium seating and parking can be purchased online as well. It’s fast and easy to navigate. You can get an e-ticket to print at home or select a mobile phone ticket. Check it out at
