Patrick Donovan, the 2005 and 2006 outstanding defensive player in the CIS, was named the Concordia Stingers football team most valuable player as the team gathered to celebrate its season with a year-end banquet held Saturday night at Molson Breweries in Montreal.
In six games Donovan, a fifth-year Leisure Sciences student, collected 36 total tackles, but more importantly he forced other teams in the QUFL to scheme and plan attacks around him.
"He's a tremendous athlete," says Concordia head coach Gerry McGrath. "He has a great aptitude for the position. Physically and mentally he's a born middle linebacker."
Donovan was also Concordia’s MVP on defence.Running back Andrew Hamilton was the Stingers’ outstanding offensive player. With Hamilton is a tough, hard runner who is very explosive through the hole.
