The Concordia Stingers women's rugby team scored its biggest Kelly-Anne Drummond Cup victory ever with a 74-0 win over the McGill Martlets on Sunday afternoon at Concordia Stadium.
The Stingers were unstoppable rolling up 12 tries in the game. The scorers were: Jasmine Baxter and Mercedes Martino with two each, Lia Hoyte, Emily Kyte, Catherine Lupien, Emily Magee, Ambre Mah-Fifi, Lauren Matthews, Mahalia Robinson and Laetitia Royer. Shawna Brayton connected on six converts.
The Stingers now have a 10-5 win-loss record in the 15-year history of the Cup. The game is played annually in honour of Kelly-Anne Drummond, a former Stinger who died tragically in 2004.
It was the second game in the Stingers’ prestigious Signature Series brought to you by McKibbin’s Irish Pub. The third can’t-miss event is Friday, Oct. 18 when the soccer teams host the Montréal Carabins in the Erica Cadieux game.
Concordia improved its 2019 RSEQ record to 5-0. McGill falls to 1-4. The final game of the regular season will take place Sunday when the Stingers cross the city to Molson Stadium for a rematch with the Martlets.
