Football alumni boost Giving Tuesday efforts with matching gifts

Thanks to the generosity of several football alumni, head coach Brad Collinson is pleased to announce that two matching gifts have been offered in support of his Concordia Stingers team on Giving Tuesday.

An anonymous donor has offered to match donations to the football team up to a total of $9,800.

Also, a group from the Sir George Williams University football era in the late 1960s and early 1970s is challenging fellow gridiron Georgians to give to the team this Tuesday. The group will match up to $7,500 in donations.

“Our staff and players are exceptionally proud to wear the university colors and represent Concordia today and also to represent all the former players from Sir George Williams, Loyola and Concordia,” said Collinson. “To receive support like this from our alumni is extraordinary. Not only is it appreciated, but it is very motivating.”

These matching gifts come on the heels of a $25,000 donation from former Loyola College all-star Bob Beriault. All together they have provided a big boost to Collinson’s Giving Tuesday fundraising efforts. He has set $100,000 as the goal.

Money raised will assist in several areas, including to help retain and hire top assistant coaching talent, to provide more financial awards to help student-athletes stay focused on academic success and to keep the team in top shape with additional state-of-the-art strength and conditioning equipment.
