After 2 more wins on the road beating the Brock Badgers 6-3 and shutting out the Guelph Gryphons 7-0, men’s hockey is ranked first in the OUA and second in U SPORTS with a 14-0-2 record and 30 points.
The Stingers headed to St. Catharines, ON, on Friday, Nov. 22 to face the Badgers. Forward Nicholas Girouard tallied a goal and 2 assists. Forwards Mathieu Bizier, Julien Anctil, and defenceman Simon Lavigne scored a goal and an assist each. Forward Alexandre Nadeau scored a goal, and defenceman Félix Allard scored his first U SPORTS goal in his first game. Goaltender Nikolas Hurtubise made 18 saves.
On Saturday, the Stingers faced off against the Gryphons. Girouard finished the game with 2 goals and 1 assist. Forward Alex Gaudio tallied 2 goals. Defenders Sean Larochelle, Lavigne, and forward Gabriel Proulx each scored a goal. Goaltender Jordan Naylor made all 15 saves for the shutout in his first game this season.
Bizier has the second-most points in the OUA (20 points, 9 goals in 16 games). Lavigne has the third-most goals in the conference (11 goals, 18 points in 16 games), also leading defencemen in goals in U SPORTS. Forward Mikael Huchette has the third-most assists in the OUA with (12 assists, 17 points in 15 games).
Men’s hockey will be back for 2 more games at the Ed Meagher Arena before the holiday break. They will host the York Lions on Saturday, Nov 30 at 2 p.m. and the Nipissing Lakers on Dec 1 at 2 p.m.
