After securing two more wins, men’s hockey finish the year strong, ranked first in the OUA and second in U SPORTS with a 16-0-2 record and 34 points.
On Saturday, Nov. 30, the Stingers faced off against the York Lions, winning by a final score of 8-1. Forward Mathieu Bizier had a hat trick, forward Gabriel Proulx tallied a shorthanded goal and 2 assists, while forwards Mikael Huchette, Julien Anctil, and Edouard Charron each scored a goal and an assist. Forward Charles Savoie also scored a goal, and defenceman Sean Larochelle put up 3 assists. Goaltender Jordan Naylor made 17 saves for the win.
The Stingers hosted the Nipissing Lakers on Sunday, Dec. 1 for their Teddy Bear Toss game and shut them out 5-0. Larochelle scored 2 goals and an assist, Huchette and defenceman Nathan Lavoie tallied a goal and an assist each, and forward Blake Richardson scored a goal. Goaltender Nikolas Hurtubise made 9 saves for his 2nd shutout this season.
Bizier is the OUA leader in points and is third in goals, with 12 goals and 12 assists for 24 points in 18 games. On the national level, Bizier has the third-most goals and fifth-most points in U SPORTS.
Defenceman Simon Lavigne is right behind him with 11 goals and 9 assists for 20 points in 18 games, leading all defencemen in goals in U SPORTS.
Huchette is ranked third in assists in the OUA with 14 assists, 7 goals, and 21 points in 17 games.
Hurtubise is first in the OUA in goals-against average (1.92) for goalies who have started in 7 games or more.
Men’s hockey will be back at the Ed Meagher Arena on Friday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. to face the Windsor Lancers.
