After beating the McGill Redbirds in the OUA Quarterfinals in a thrilling 3-game series, men’s hockey will face the Queen’s Gaels in the OUA Semifinals this week.
The Stingers rallied in Games 2 and 3 after a Game 1 6-1 loss. They won Game 2 by a final score of 5-1, with 2 goals scored by forward Mathieu Bizier, 1 goal by forward Alexandre Nadeau, and defencemen Kyle Havlena and Simon Lavigne adding a goal each to the tally. Goaltender Nikolas Hurtubise made 15 saves.
Men’s hockey then beat the Redbirds 5-4 in Game 3 to win the series and advance to the Semifinals. Defenceman Sean Larochelle scored 3 goals for a hat-trick, while forward Julien Anctil contributed a pair of goals. Hurtubise made 24 saves for the win.
Men’s hockey will be back at the Ed Meagher Arena on Wednesday, Mar. 5 at 7 p.m. to host Game 1 of the series vs Queen’s, and for Game 3 (if necessary) on Saturday, Mar. 8.
