Stingers introduce Get In The Game hockey program

The Concordia Stingers are proud to partner with CCM Hockey to offer the Junior Stingers & CCM Get in the Game program powered by the NHL Player Inclusion Coalition. This program is an introductory hockey experience to encourage girls ages 5-10 to try hockey for the first time.

This 8-session program is run by 4-time Olympian and Stingers women's hockey head coach Julie Chu and the Concordia Women’s Hockey team. It provides low-cost instruction and full equipment for participants as they learn to play hockey. Participants will have access to role models from various levels of the sport through guest coaches and special experiences, such as tickets to a future Concordia Stingers hockey game.

Concordia Stingers Head Coach Julie Chu is a member of the NHL Player Inclusion Coalition, which works to advance inclusion in the sport of hockey, on and off the ice. This initiative was made possible via a grant from the NHL/NHLPA Industry Growth Fund.

“As a proud member of the NHL PIC, I am happy to take part in initiatives like Get In the Game which help to grow our sport and to make hockey more accessible," said Chu. "We are excited to partner with CCM to bring new players into our local community and to provide a fun and great experience for all.”

“Welcoming the next generation of hockey players is one of the core principles of the NHL/NHLPA Industry Growth Fund, and there has never been more momentum for women and girls in hockey,” said Rob Knesaurek, NHL Senior Vice President, Youth Development and Industry Growth. “We are proud to support Julie and the Concordia Stingers as they aim to create enjoyable and unforgettable experiences that inspire participants to love this game.”

“Players bring strong insights and passions for growing the sport, which have laid the foundation for many opportunities to connect with more audiences,” said Chris Campoli, NHLPA Divisional Player Representative. “This program reflects Julie’s vision and represents the player-driven spirit of the NHL PIC, which has made a significant community impact over the past few years.”
