Boivin appointed director of Recreation and Athletics

Concordia University introduced Patrick Boivin, the Montreal Canadiens’ former director of hockey operations, as its new director of Recreation and Athletics today.

“We’re pleased to welcome Patrick to our team,” said Lisa Ostiguy, the deputy provost of Academic Affairs who is responsible for all aspects of the student experience. “Athletics and Recreation are key facets of student life at Concordia. That is why we have hired an individual who has the knowledge and experience to leverage opportunities that will enhance this important area.”

Boivin’s duties will include leading the strategic development of the department’s varsity and recreational programs.

“This is an exciting change for me,” said Boivin. “I look forward to working with people at Concordia to enhance the university’s varsity sports teams and to find new ways to engage all our students, faculty and staff in recreational activities to support their health and well-being.”

In his three seasons as director of hockey operations for the Canadiens, Boivin oversaw daily team operations including budget management, league affairs, team services and internal business co-operation.

Between 2002 and 2008, he held several positions with the professional organization working in marketing, events and game presentation. He played a pivotal role in establishing the strategic sponsorship structure of the Canadiens’ Centennial.

As well, he spent two years as corporate marketing manager with NHL Enterprises Canada where he introduced a new and comprehensive wireless digital mobile sports content platform.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Boivin is involved in several charitable and sports organizations.

Boivin earned a degree in Finance and International Business from HEC Montreal. As well, he attended the University of Colorado and Montreal’s Polytechnique studying aeronautical and mechanical engineering.
