Lalancette, Turcotte – Subway Athletes of the Week

Stéphanie Lalancette of the women’s hockey team and Marc-Antoine Turcotte of the men’s hockey team have been named the Subway-Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 7.

Lalancette, a second-year forward with the Stingers, collected three goals and six assists for nine points in four games over the holiday break. Highlights include scoring two goals and adding two assists in a 7-0 victory over the No. 8-ranked Guelph Gryphons at the annual Theresa Humes tournament in December and picking up a goal and two assists in a big 6-4 victory over the McGill Martlets last Saturday.

A 21-year-old native of St-Félicien, Que., Lalancette is studying Leisure Sciences at Concordia.

Turcotte, a second-year goaltender with the Stingers, helped his team pick up three out of four points on the weekend. He turned away 35 of 40 shots in a 5-4 overtime loss to the UQTR Patriotes last Friday. The following night, he stopped all 31 shots to help the Stingers shut out the Ottawa Gee-Gees 2-0

The 22-year-old student from Châteauguay, Que., is in Independent Studies at Concordia.
