McGravie ready to tackle new role with Stingers

Concordia University Director of Recreation and Athletics D’Arcy Ryan is pleased to announce Graeme McGravie has been named the Associate Director, Student-Athlete Services, effective immediately.

He is responsible for the administration of interuniversity sports programs, as well as athletic therapy and academic support services for student-athletes.

“I want to bring pride and commitment to varsity athletics on and off the field,” said McGravie. “I want to support our athletes through to graduation. I want them to have the best three or four years possible.”

McGravie has extensive experience in sports administration at various levels, including 17 years as the head coach of the Stingers men’s and women’s rugby programs. He led the Stingers to five championships – one as the men’s coach and four with the women’s program.

He has also been involved in sports at the club, Cégep and provincial levels.

“I am very pleased to have Graeme with us in this role,” said Ryan. “His experience and success at all levels of sports are impressive and will help immensely in his new position. Even more important is his understanding of the student-athlete experience and his commitment to making it a quality one for every Stinger.”

McGravie has been an employee at Concordia for 23 years working initially at the Birks Student Service Centre before moving to Admissions in the Faculty of Arts and Science. Most recently he served as Manager of Residence Life.

The Montreal native earned his degree in Social Work from McGill University, graduating in 2001.
