The Concordia Stingers men's hockey team will face off against the Queen's Gaels in the opening round of the OUA playoffs, beginning Wednesday night in Kingston, Ont.
The best-of-three series moves to Montreal and Concordia’s Ed Meagher Arena on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Game 3 if necessary will be back in Kingston, Ont. on Saturday night.
The Gaels finished in third place in the 10-team OUA East conference with a 19-9 win-loss record. The Stingers were sixth with a 15-11-2 performance.
Both regular season meetings between the teams took place last month. Concordia won 4-3 at home on Jan.18. Captain Philippe Hudon scored the winning goal with four minutes left in the third period. The Stingers lost 4-3 in a shootout on the road on Jan. 26.
In 2018, the teams met in the second round of the playoffs with Concordia coming out on top two games to one. The third and deciding game went to overtime where Stinger Philippe Sanche scored 51 seconds into the extra frame to give Concordia a 3-2 victory.
