Blanchard takes over CIS scoring race

Concordia Stingers captain Trevor Blanchard picked up five points in two games on the weekend to take over the CIS men’s hockey scoring lead.

The third-year right wing from Sudbury, Ont. collected a goal and two assists in a 5-4 victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues last Friday. He also scored the game-winner and chipped in with an assist in a 5-3 win over the Ryerson Rams on Saturday.

Blanchard now boasts eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 10 regular season games.

“It’s always great to see a player with such tremendous work ethic having on-ice success,” said Stingers head coach Kevin Figsby. “As Trevor’s practice ethic has intensified, so has his production. His success isn’t just personal, it’s team focused.”

Blanchard and the Stingers will travel to Toronto this weekend for another round with the Rams on Friday and the Varsity Blues on Saturday.
