Men’s hockey completed a season sweep against McGill after winning 3-1 on the road on Friday, and 7-3 at home on Sunday in the 37th Corey Cup game.
The Stingers are ranked first in the OUA with an 11-0-1 record and 23 points, the same as the U SPORTS top-ranked UNB Reds.
In the Wednesday matchup at Place Bell, forward Daniel Agostino opened the scoring early in the second period. Three minutes later, forward Isiah Campbell scored on the powerplay to double the lead. Forward Mikael Huchette scored the Stingers' third and final goal halfway through the last period and sealed the 3-1 win vs McGill. Goaltender Nikolas Hurtubise made 19 saves.
In the Sunday re-match, forward Gabriel Proulx finished the game with two goals, including one shorthanded. Forwards Isiah Campbell, Charles Savoie, Julien Anctil, Agostino, and defenceman Sean Larochelle each scored a goal. Hurtubise made 22 saves.
Forward Mathieu Bizier has the third most points (16) in the conference, while he’s tied for third-most goals with teammate Simon Lavigne, who also leads the category for all defencemen in U SPORTS.
Hurtubise has the second-best goals-against average (1.63) and third-best save percentage (.931) in U SPORTS for goalies who have started in 5 games or more.
Men’s hockey will head to Ottawa this Thursday where they will play the Gee-Gees. They will be back at the Ed Meagher Arena on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. to face the Western Mustangs for this year’s edition of Pink in the Rink, a game that helps raise awareness and support for Breast Cancer research.
