Stingers women’s hockey swept the Bishop’s Gaiters last week after a 3-1 home win on Thursday, Jan. 23 and a 7-1 road win on Sunday, Jan. 26. They improved to a 14-0 record and 28 points, ranked first in U SPORTS and in the RSEQ.
Forwards Alexis Bedier, Émilie Lussier, and Jessymaude Drapeau scored a goal each in the Thursday night game, and Émilie Lavoie tallied 2 assists. Goaltender Arianne Leblanc made 18 saves for the win.
Lussier racked up 2 more goals and an assist in the 7-1 victory against Bishop’s, and Drapeau contributed a goal and an assist. Forward Megan Bureau-Gagnon scored 2 goals. Forward Courtney Rice and defender Léonie Phlibert each tallied a goal and an assist. Goaltender Jordyn Verbeek made 23 saves for the win.
Forward Émilie Lussier has the second-most goals in U SPORTS (15 goals in 13 games) and leads the RSEQ with 22 points.
Men’s hockey fell short 3-2 against the Lakehead Thunderwolves in a road game that went to shootouts on Friday, Jan. 24.
Stingers hockey will be back at home on Feb. 2 at 2 p.m. as the women’s team hosts the Montréal Carabins.
