Stingers men's hockey sweep pink in the rink weekend at home

The Concordia Stingers men’s hockey team picked up two big wins on home ice during Pink in the Rink weekend, defeating both Queen’s and Ontario Tech by identical 4–1 scores.

On Friday night, the Stingers took control early against the Queen’s Gaels. Nicholas Girouard and Vincent Nardone scored in the opening period to give Concordia a 2–0 lead. Queen’s cut the deficit in the second, but Julien Anctil restored the two-goal cushion with a late-period marker. Captain Simon Lavigne sealed the victory with a third-period goal, while goaltender Nikolas Hurtubise stopped 18 shots for the win.

Concordia carried that momentum into Sunday’s matchup against Ontario Tech, where they once again came out on top 4–1. Despite giving up an early goal, the Stingers responded with four unanswered tallies from Mathieu Bizier, Hugo Primeau, Alexandre Nadeau, and Édouard Charron.

With the weekend sweep, the Stingers improve to 5–6 on the season and sit at #9 in the U SPORTS national rankings. They’ll look to keep rolling next weekend when they host the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m., followed by the RMC Paladins on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m., both at the Ed Meagher Arena.
