Begin makes hockey all-rookie team

Eric Begin, a first-year defenceman from St. Lambert, Que., was named to the OUA East Division men’s hockey all-rookie team when the conference honors were announced Wednesday.

“He has been a great addition to the Stingers defensive corps,” said Concordia head coach Kevin Figsby. “For a rookie he showed tremendous poise as he adjusted to the level of university hockey. If he continues to progress, we will see him develop into an all-Canadian defenceman.”

Begin scored two goals and added 11 assists for 13 points in 28 OUA games this season.

Before joining the Stingers, he played with the Valleyfield Braves in the Quebec junior AAA league and with the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
