Rémillard, Karvouniaris named Athletes of the Week

Marie-Pier Rémillard of the women's hockey team and Peter Karvouniaris of the men’s hockey team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Nov. 7.

Rémillard, a second-year goaltender, was exceptional in Concordia’s tight 1-0 loss to the No. 1-ranked McGill Martlets on Sunday. She faced 38 shots in the game. In six games this season, she has a goals-against average of 3.30 and her save percentage is .900. 

A 22-year-old native of Laval, Que., Rémillard is currently studying Sociology at Concordia. 

Karvouniaris, a first-year goaltender, back-stopped the Stingers to two big victories on the weekend. He turned away 37 of 38 shots in a 3-1 victory over the Ryerson Rams last Friday. The following day, he stopped 38 of 39 shots in a 6-1 win over the Queen’s Gaels. In five games this season, he has a goals-against average of 3.15 and his save percentage is .925.

The 21-year-old student from Laval, Que. is studying in the Faculty of Arts.
