Scarlett, Laroche named Athletes of the Week

Danielle Scarlett of the women's hockey team and Evens Laroche of the men’s basketball team have been named the Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 5.

Scarlett, a second-year defender, was a key contributor in the Concordia women’s hockey team’s only game last week. She played well in both ends of the rink and scored a goal in a tough 5-4 shootout loss to the Carleton Ravens last Saturday.

A 20-year-old native of Burlington, Ont., Scarlett is currently studying Athletic Therapy at Concordia.

Laroche recorded double-doubles in both the Stingers’ basketball games last week. In an 80-59 victory over the Laval Rouge et Or last Friday, he collected 11 points and 10 rebounds. The following day he led his team to a 73-62 win over the UQAM Citadins. He had 13 points and 15 rebounds in the match.

The 25-year-old student from Montreal is studying Human Relations at Concordia.
