Marilyse Roy-Viau of the women's basketball team and Etienne Archambault of the men’s hockey team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 6.
Roy-Viau, a first-year forward, helped the Stingers win the annual Concordia-Reebok women's basketball tournament over the holidays. She had 18 points and six assists in a 75-74 overtime victory over the No. 1-ranked Windsor Lancers. She also collected 15 points and eight rebounds in a 60-57 win over the No. 5-ranked Carleton Ravens. Roy-Viau was named MVP of the tournament.
A 21-year-old native of Mirabel, Que., Roy-Viau is currently studying Family Life Education at Concordia.
Archambault, a second-year right wing with the Stingers, stood out in a couple of hockey games when conference play resumed on the weekend. He scored a goal in a 2-0 victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday. The following day he had two assists in a tough 7-3 loss to the Carleton Ravens.
The 23-year-old student from St. Hyacinthe, Que. studies Business Administration at Concordia.
