Roy-Viau, Desmarais PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Marilyse Roy-Viau of the women's basketball team and Kyle Desmarais of the men's basketball team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Jan. 20.

Roy-Viau, a rookie forward, was dominant in a 62-54 victory over the Bishop's Gaiters on Saturday. She scored 13 points and collected 10 rebounds. In addition she had four assists, four steals and just one turnover in 31 minutes of play. With the win, the Stingers wrap up the first half of the RSEQ season with a 6-2 win-loss record.

A 21-year-old native of Mirabel, Que., Roy-Viau is currently studying Family Life Education at Concordia.

Desmarais, a fourth-year guard with the Stingers, was a standout in an 82-68 win over the Bishop’s Gaiters. He led all scorers in the game with 25 points. He also had five assists and six steals. The win improves Concordia’s win-loss record to 5-3 in the Quebec conference.

The 24-year-old student from Montreal is studying in the Economics program at Concordia.
