Barrett, Laroche PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Kaylah Barrett of the women's basketball team and Evens Laroche of the men’s basketball team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Feb. 24.

Barrett, a third-year guard, was impressive in the two final games of the RSEQ regular season. She had 13 points and five rebounds in a 70-51 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters last Thursday. She scored 20 points and added five rebounds in a 67-62 overtime loss to the Laval Rouge et Or on Saturday. Barrett was named the 2013 MVP of the RSEQ conference and a first team all-star earlier today.

A 21-year-old native of Brampton, Ont., Barrett is currently studying in the Faculty of Arts and Science at Concordia.

Laroche, a fifth-year forward with the Stingers, helped Concordia pick up a split in the final two games of the Quebec conference season. He hauled in 19 points and five rebounds in a 72-63 victory over the Bishop’s Gaiters last Thursday. Two days later at Université Laval he had a strong performance with eight points and seven rebounds in an 84-62 loss to the Rouge et Or.

The 26-year-old student from Montreal studies in the Human Relations program at Concordia.
