Giuliani, Bastien - PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Jenna Giuliani of the women's rugby team and Kris Bastien of the football team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 8.

Giuliani, a fourth-year fullback, was outstanding in Concordia’s 51-7 victory over the Carleton Ravens in the team’s season opener on Sunday afternoon. She scored three tries on great runs. She was also strong on defence, especially on one open field tackle that saved a try.

A 22-year-old native of Châteauguay, Que., Giuliana is currently studying Psychology at Concordia.

Stinger slotback Kris Bastien caught six passes for 90 yards and two touchdowns in a tough 32-19 loss to the McGill Redmen last Friday night. He has scored at least one touchdown against the Redmen in each of the last four meetings between the teams, dating back to Oct. 8, 2011. His totals for the four games are 20 catches for 298 yards and six touchdowns.

The 23-year-old student from St. Lambert, Que. studies in the Economics program at Concordia.
