Myre, Lutchenkirchen - PJ's Pub Athletes of the Week

Kayla Myre of the women's soccer team and Stefan Lutchenkirchen of the men’s rugby team have been named the PJ’s Pub Concordia Stingers athletes of the week for the period ending Sept. 15.

Myre, a third-year midfielder/defender, was exceptional in two games on the weekend. She helped the Stingers defeat the UQAM Citadins 4-2 last Friday, scoring one goal and picking up two assists. She was named MVP of the game and she was the best player again in a tough 3-1 loss to the McGill Martlets on Sunday.

A 22-year-old native of St. Hubert, Que., Myre is currently enrolled in Child Studies at Concordia.

Lutchenkirchen, a second-year outside centre, was outstanding in Concordia’s 9-3 victory over the Sherbrooke Vert & Or in the team’s season opener on Sunday afternoon. He ran powerful lines and once into the backfield he off-loaded to help ensure extra yardage and pressure against a very strong Sherbrooke defence. Lutchenkirchen also made some key cover tackles to shut down the Vert & Or attack out wide. A couple of those tackles led to penalties by Sherbrooke and six points for the Stingers.

The 23-year-old student from Val d’Or, Que. studies in the Civil Engineering program at Concordia.
