Rugby players make all-star team

Four members of the Concordia Stingers men's rugby team were named to the Quebec conference all-star team announced recently by the QSSF.

All four – fly half Scott Gill, No. 8 Tyler Brimacombe, flanker Curtis McKinney and second row Tom Moore – are first-time all-stars.

A versatile and experienced back with a reliable foot, Gill was the leading scorer on the Stingers with three tries, 17 conversions and 11 penalty goals for 82 points in eight games. The Beaconsfield, Que. native is a fourth-year Civil Engineering student.

Brimacombe, a White Rock, B.C. native who studies Human Relations, and Calgary's McKinney, a Political Science major, each scored two tries for Concordia this season. McKinney is in his first season with the Stingers and has great potential.

Moore, who calls Knowlton, Que. home, is in his fourth year of the Concordia History program. He made the move to second row from No. 8 this season and was a strong contributor. He is relied on for his quiet leadership.

Moore and Brimacombe will graduate this spring.

The Stingers finished in second place in the Quebec conference with an impressive 7-1 win-loss record in the regular season. Concordia defeated the Bishop's Gaiters 14-0 in the semifinals and then suffered a tough 16-12 loss in the provincial championship versus the McGill Redmen.
