The Concordia Stingers are proud to announce the hiring of Marc Belvedere as head coach of the men’s rugby program.
“I’m excited for a new challenge, and really excited to have the chance to coach such a talented group of student-athletes. This is a program with a lot of history, and I want to be a part of the legacy,” said Belvedere upon arriving at the Loyola campus after being told the job was his.
Belvedere is coming to the Stingers after a successful stint as head coach of the John Abbott Islanders men’s rugby program from 2019 to 2023. Belvedere led the Islanders to two RSEQ championships over that span and has coached several student-athletes currently on the Stingers men’s rugby roster.
This isn’t Belvedere’s first time representing Concordia – he was part of the Stingers men’s rugby team in 2018, winning the RSEQ championship and competed at Nationals in Victoria, B.C.
“I’m a collaborative coach, who wants to work with the student-athletes to figure out how we can all get better.”
Men’s rugby will open up their home schedule on September 15 versus Ottawa.
Former head coach John Lavery was hired in the spring to lead the Queen’s University men’s rugby program. We wish John all the best in his new role.
