Thomas Artmann, Stingers earn RSEQ men's rugby honours

Led by conference MVP Thomas Artmann, the Concordia Stingers had several players on the honour roll when the RSEQ announced its men's rugby all-stars and major award recipients on Friday night.

Artmann, a second-year No. 8, was a first team all-star and the outstanding player in the eight-team league. He scored five tries in six games and was named the game MVP on four occasions.

“Thomas has been really consistent in his performances,” said Concordia head coach John Lavery. “His ability to get us going forward with his carry and impact at the lineout were huge for us. His leadership was critical in keeping us moving forward as a group.”

The Montreal West resident was a second team all-star in 2021 which was his rookie season.

The Stingers also placed three players on the second all-star team – Stan Blazkowski, a third-year fly half from Marseille, France; Victor Dion, a third-year prop from Quebec City; and Calvin Mazloum, a third-year hooker from Montreal West.

Blazkowski, who was Concordia’s leading scorer with six tries and three converts, earns his second league honour. He was a first-team all-star in 2019.

Dion and Mazloum were recognized for the first time by the RSEQ.
