Basketball star Jay Prosper returns as assistant coach

Concordia head coach Rastko Popovic is pleased to announce former Stinger star Jay Prosper has joined the staff of the men’s basketball team.

“I am very excited to have Jay join our coaching staff,” said Popovic. “Jay is a tremendous leader and his positive energy will be appreciated by our players on a daily basis.”

Prosper wrapped up a successful four-year career with the Stingers in 1999. During that time, he was a second team all-Canadian, a two-time Quebec conference MVP and a three-time league all-star.

“He is one of the most accomplished basketball players in the history of our program.” Popovic said. “His work ethic and competitive nature are what set him apart. He truly embodies what being a Stinger is.”

Prosper has a lot to offer the current generation of Stingers, but mentoring the team’s post players will be a key part of his responsibilities.

"I’m thankful for the opportunity and thrilled to be part of a program that gave me so much,” Prosper said. "To be in a position where I can positively impact our student-athletes on and off the court is truly a privilege."

Prosper graduated with a BA in Sociology. He has established a successful career in sales and marketing in the technology industry.
