Stingers basketball hosted the Laval Rouge et Or in a doubleheader on Saturday, Nov. 23 and both teams took the win.
Despite being down after the first quarter, women’s basketball rallied to beat the Rouge et Or by a final score of 61-45, notching their second win this season.
Forward Angela Batrla led the Stingers with 21 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Shooting guard Victoria Lawrence had 17 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 block. Point guard Kayla Brutus tallied 13 points, 2 steals, and 2 rebounds while Centre Serena Tchida led the Stingers in rebounds with 12, also tallying 5 points and 4 steals.
Men’s basketball won by a final score of 90-71. They sit in second place in the conference with a 3-1 record and 6 points.
Guard Jaheem Joseph led the Stingers with 31 points (career high), 4 assists, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Guard Alec Phaneuf tallied 21 points, 9 assists, 5 rebounds, and 1 steal. Centre Bradley Louidon finished with 12 rebounds and 2 blocks, also tallying 6 points. Guard Junior Mercy racked up 13 points, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
Women’s basketball will be back at home on Thursday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m. to face the McGill Martlets.
