Biddle commits to Concordia men's rugby

Head coach Clive Gibson is pleased to announce that David Biddle, an accomplished former Canadian national team player, will join the Concordia Stingers men’s rugby program this fall.

“I am ecstatic,” said Gibson. “I am looking forward to his being part of our team. David’s commitment to excellence in everything he does will help push everyone involved – players and coaches– to new levels of achievement.”

The 23-year-old native of Vancouver was first involved in elite national rugby programs as a member of Team Canada at the U19 World Cup in South Africa. He also represented his country at the U21 World Cup in Argentina.

In 2007 Biddle, a flanker, played three games at the World Cup in France. Canada finished 15th out of 20 teams.

There’s a heavy commitment that goes along with being a member of Canada’s national program. Biddle has stepped away from the national team to focus on his education.

An accomplished artist who focuses on painting and drawing, Biddle will pursue his studies in the Concordia Faculty of Fine Arts.

“After the (2007) World Cup I travelled Europe for a couple more months and went to every art museum in Italy,” Biddle explained. “By the time I got back to Canada I was feeling inspired and ready to focus on something new.

“I heard about Concordia's Fine Arts program while at Langara College. Everyone who had any familiarity with the program had great things to say.”
