4 rugby players earn all-star honors

Four members of the Concordia Stingers have been named to the Quebec university men’s rugby all-star team released earlier this week.

David Biddle, the former national team player from Vancouver, makes his second consecutive appearance on the team. The No. 8 is an accomplished Fine Arts student at Concordia.

Flanker Paul Bouet, prop Jimmy Bang and centre Jonathan Dextras-Romagnino all earn their first all-star honors.

Bouet, an Arts student from Bordeaux, France, scored three tries in six games. He finished eighth in conference scoring this season.

Bang, a Human Relations student from Montreal, had one try this year.

Dextras-Romagnino, a Montrealer who studies Business Administration, was instrumental in helping Concordia win its semifinal game versus Bishop’s last Sunday. He scored two tries in the 13-12 victory.

The Stingers finished the regular season in second place with a 5-1 win-loss record and 22 points in the standings. They will meet the first-place McGill Redmen in the Quebec championship on Sunday at 8 p.m. at Molson Stadium.

McGill also posted a 5-1 record but had 23 points in the standings, edging out Concordia to finish first in the conference.

The teams met twice during regular season play, splitting the games. McGill won 18-6 on Sept. 17, while Concordia claimed a 17-10 victory on Oct. 24.
