A second-half try by Alex Ritchie propelled the Concordia Stingers to a 13-10 victory over the Bishop's Gaiters in a Quebec university rugby union semifinal at Coulter Field in Lennoxville, Que. on Friday night. A crowd of approximately 300 people saw the Stingers score 13 unanswered points after the Gaiters had taken a 5-0 lead late in the first half. Ritchie's try came in the 58th minute after a multiple-phase Concordia possession. The fullback took a pass 10 yards out from the Gaiters' goal line and broke through a tackle to put the visitors ahead. Adriano d'Angelo's conversion put the Stingers up 10-5. D'Angelo also scored penalties at the end of the first half and in the 79th minute, as he finished with eight points. Bishop's opened the scoring in the 39th minute, as Noah Harrison found the corner of the end zone, giving the hosts a 5-0 lead. The other Gaiter try came just before the final whistle, as Josh Quirion scored after a furious Bishop's rush in the late stages of the contest. With the loss, the Gaiters finish the season with a record of 3-3-1 overall. Concordia advances to face the McGill Redmen in the league championship game. – Courtesy of Bishop’s Sports Information
