Liam Mahoney, a former star quarterback and slotback with the Stingers, has been named the color commentator for Concordia football broadcasts on TSN Radio 990 this season.
One of the most accomplished players to ever wear the Maroon and Gold, he brings a wealth of football knowledge into the broadcast booth.
The Lachine, Que. native’s career spans more than 15 years from minor football in the local North Shore program to three seasons with the Vanier Cheetahs in the CEGEP AAA league and with the Stingers from 2007 through 2010.
At the university level he was named the outstanding rookie in CIS football. In his final season he was a Quebec university league all-star and a CIS all-Canadian. He was also the Stingers’ MVP in 2008 and 2010.
Mahoney was selected by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the sixth round of the 2011 CFL draft, but he joined the Hamilton Tigers-Cats later that summer.
The Stingers host the Toronto Varsity Blues in exhibition action this Friday at 1 p.m. at Concordia Stadium. Mahoney will be on the sidelines calling in updates to TSN 990.
