The Concordia Stingers fell 51-22 to the Montréal Carabins on Saturday night at Concordia Stadium in their 2026 home opener.
Despite the result, the Stingers saw promising performances from a number of young players, including rookie quarterback Charles Boulianne. The Beauce native made his first appearance with the Stingers in the second half, completing 7 of 11 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown while leading Concordia on three scoring drives.
Second-year receiver Ély Rivest was the Stingers top target, finishing the night with four receptions for 119 yards.
Veteran receiver Darius Simmons also made an impact, hauling in five passes for 73 yards, including a highlight-reel touchdown that brought the Concordia crowd to its feet.
On defence, Mendel Joseph led the Stingers with a game-high six tackles.
The Stingers will look to get into the win column next Saturday when they host the McGill Redbirds for the annual Homecoming game on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m.
