The Concordia Stingers football program will be represented at the next level once again, as linebacker Loïk Gagné and long snapper Christopher Liberta take the next steps in their football careers.
Gagné was selected in the fifth round (43rd pick) of the 2026 CFL Draft by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, capping off a strong four-year career with the Stingers. A consistent presence on Concordia’s defence, Gagné established himself as one of the top linebackers in the RSEQ.
His standout season came in 2023, when he earned RSEQ All-Star honours after recording 36.5 tackles, along with 2 sacks and 2.5 tackles for loss. He followed that up with another solid campaign in 2024, finishing with 20.5 tackles, and 18.5 tackles last season.
Known for his physicality and instincts around the ball, Gagné has been a key contributor to the Stingers’ defensive unit throughout his university career.
Liberta will also get his opportunity at the professional level, signing with the Toronto Argonauts as a free agent. A reliable presence in the Stingers’ special teams unit, Liberta’s consistency and precision at long snapper earned him a chance to compete at the next level.
Both players are set to join their respective teams this week, with CFL rookie camps opening on May 6.
