Several members of the Concordia Stingers men’s rugby team took home honors when the RSEQ presented its all-stars and major awards on the weekend.
Captain Yannick Fortin was named the Quebec league MVP. The six-foot-three, 210-pound fly half from Lachine, Que. was instrumental in guiding the Stingers to their first conference title in nine years.
In five regular season games, he scored a try and four penalty goals. He was named game MVP once. In the 16-14 semifinal victory over the Montréal Carabins, he scored a try and was once again the game MVP.
First-year flanker Gonzalo Manrique from Buenos Aries, Argentina was presented with the RSEQ award for leadership and community service.
The Stingers also took five spots on the 15-man all-star team. Flanker Andreas Krawczyk, fullback Caleb Jordan, hooker Alfredo Cosentino, centre Alex Ritchie and Fortin were on the honor roll.
