Keith Dauper, a fourth-year offensive tackle from Dublin, Ohio, was named a CIS second team all-Canadian when the 2006 offensive honor rolls were released today.
When Dauper arrived in Montreal from Dublin, Ohio in 2003, he was six-foot-seven and 220 pounds and held a lot of promise. Four years later the prized left tackle weighs 310 pounds, and that promise has been fulfilled. He is the captain and leader on the Concordia Stingers offensive line as well as an all-star performer.
Dauper has worked very hard to earn the advances. He is very focused on getting stronger and technically better. The big tackle spends a lot of time watching film. He has a great aptitude for the game, especially his position. He's very aware of aspects of the game that most offensive linemen wouldn't know or care about.
"Keith is going to be an excellent coach one day," says Concordia head coach Gerry McGrath. "Having him lead our offensive line is ideal for me. When he’s out there it’s like having an offensive line coach on the field. He remains very coachable, he has a great attitude and he pays a lot of attention to detail.
"He is an outstanding academic and role model. Every successful offensive line needs a leader like Keith Dauper."
The OUA dominated the offensive all-Canadian voting with 13 selections, including nine on the first team. Canada West had seven representatives, including five first-teamers, while Quebec had five second team all-Canadians and the Atlantic conference one first team selection and three second team players.
Three members of the Concordia defence – Patrick Donovan, Sammy Okpro and Moe Sidibe – were on the CIS first team which was released yesterday.
