The Concordia Stingers football team delivered a dramatic 27–23 victory over the Sherbrooke Vert & Or on Friday night at Concordia Stadium.
Receiver Ély Rivest was the hero of the night, hauling in three passes for 135 yards — including a 67-yard game-winning touchdown in the final minute of play.
Rookie quarterback Antoine Ouimet came in after halftime and made an immediate impact, completing 14 of 17 passes for 220 yards and two touchdowns in a poised performance. Ouimet connected with Franck Tchembe for one score and orchestrated a second-half drive capped by a 14-yard QB sneak from Gianni Casati.
Kicker Dante Magliocco was perfect on the night, going 2-for-2 on field goals.
On defense, Mendel Joseph stood out with four tackles and an interception, while Christopher Cyril led the unit with six tackles.
With the win, the Stingers improve their playoff hopes and now turn their attention to the Shaughnessy Cup next weekend against McGill. A victory there would clinch Concordia’s spot in the RSEQ playoffs.
