DB William Jouan-Ladouceur commits to Stingers

Assistant head coach and defensive co-ordinator Patrick Donovan is thrilled to announce extremely accomplished defensive back William Jouan-Ladouceur has committed to the Concordia Stingers football program.

The 20-year-old Ste. Julie, Que. native will join the Stingers in the summer of 2016.

“William can play anywhere in the defensive backfield,” said Donovan. “He’s fast, he’s physical and he’s smart. I’m really excited about him coming to Concordia. We’re very fortunate to have him as part of our Stinger family.”

The six-foot, 185-pound defensive back comes out of the St. Jean Géants program where he was an RSEQ all-star in 2014. The Géants won the Bol d’or that season.

Jouan-Ladouceur played for St. Jean in 2012 and 2014. He did not play football in 2015. In his last year with the Géants he had 18 tackles, two sacks and five interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown

He has enoyed success with Team Québec winning a gold medal at the Canada Cup in 2012.

Jouan-Ladouceur was selected to represent Canada in a game versus the United States at the International Bowl at University of Texas-Arlington in February of 2014. From there he was named to Canada’s 45-man roster for the 2014 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) U-19 World Championship in Kuwait. The roster was chosen from a pool of 93 players who participated at the 2014 International Bowl series.

Now Jouan-Ladouceur brings his considerable talent to the university level where he will join life-long friend Yanic Lessard, the all-star rookie wide receiver, with the Stingers.

“Playing with Yanic, he’s my brother, it is important to me,” said Jouan-Ladouceur. “Also, I like the way Pat (Donovan) and Mickey (Donovan) make it a family with the Stingers. I want to help Concordia finish in first place and win a Vanier Cup.”

Jouan-Ladouceur is considering Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) or business for his academics.
