Four members of the Concordia Stingers football team will participate in the fifth annual East West Bowl on Saturday, May 12 at Université Laval in Ste. Foy, Que.
Two-time all-Canadian halfback Sammy Okpro will lead the Concordia contingent which also includes linebacker Nathan Agadzi and defensive linemen William Miller and Tom Kuchiran. They will be among 95 football players participating in the showcase of CIS players who will be eligible for the 2008 Canadian Football League draft.
The East squad is comprised of student-athletes representing institutions from the Atlantic and Quebec conferences in addition to Ottawa, Queen’s, York and Toronto, while the West squad is made up of players from universities west of the greater Toronto area. Each CIS football-playing school is represented by a minimum of three and a maximum of four players.
Kickoff for the 2007 East West Bowl game is set for noon on May 12. The first practices are scheduled for May 8, while the East West Bowl banquet will take place at May 10.
