Champlain Cougars linebacker to join Stingers in January

Head coach Brad Collinson is pleased to announce linebacker Gabriel Tétrault of the Champlain Cougars has committed to the Concordia Stingers football program.

Tétrault, who checks in at six-foot-three and 195 pounds, will join the Stingers in January and begin his studies in Economics.

“He’s a good athlete,” said Collinson. “He’s versatile. He plays defence and all special teams. When I went to scout him, I liked that he was high-motor kid, a high-effort player.”

The Rosemere, Que. native played his youth football with Laurentides-Lanaudière before joining the Collège Montmorency Nomades for two seasons. He wrapped up his Cégep career with Champlain in 2018.

“My goals are to go to the John Molson School of Business and get as much time on the football field as I can,” said Tétrault. “I do all the special teams so I have more time on the field. These are my last years of football and I want to play them.”

Tétrault will follow in his brother Jean-Sébastien’s footsteps. The older sibling was a linebacker with the Stingers through the 2017 season.
