Stingers basketball were hosted by UQAM on Saturday, Nov. 16, where they faced the Citadins in a doubleheader and came out victorious.
Women’s basketball dominated the game, winning by a final score of 73-48 and securing their first win of the season.
Centre Serena Tchida led the Stingers with 18 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals. Guard Nelly Owusu tallied 13 points, 6 steals, and 3 assists. Forward Angela Batrla finished the game with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists, while forward Fabiola Lamour led the Stingers in rebounds with 15, also tallying 10 points, 4 steals, and 1 block.
Men’s basketball beat UQAM 72-69 and are now sitting in second place in the RSEQ with a 2-1 record and 4 points.
Guard Emmanuel Duprate led the Stingers with 19 points, 2 assists, and 1 steal. Guard Jaheem Joseph had 11 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals, and guard Alex Phaneuf finished the game with 7 rebounds, 6 points, and 9 assists.
Stingers basketball will be back at home on Saturday, Nov. 23 to face the Laval Rouge et Or. The women’s team will start off the doubleheader at 2 p.m.
