Gerry McGrath, head coach of the Concordia football program, is pleased to announce cornerback Nathan Taylor has signed a letter of intent (LOI) and will suit up for the Stingers in 2009.
Taylor was one of the most sought-after recruits in CIS this year. He is a two-time CEGEP all-star out of Vanier College. In 2008 with the Cheetahs, he had 15 solos tackles, 10 assists and six interceptions, including one he returned 57 yards for a touchdown.
The Montreal native finished his three-year CEGEP career as one of the top players on the all-time interception list. His 11 career interceptions puts him fifth on the list that dates back to 1978.
The all-time leader is former Stinger Sammy Okpro who owns the record with 14 career interceptions. Okpro now plays for the CFL’s Edmonton Eskimos.
Taylor, who enrolled for the winter semester at Concordia, is taking part in Concordia’s winter workouts.
LOI is a new CIS initiative designed to reduce and limit the recruiting pressures on prospective student-athletes, to educate prospective student-athletes on the most applicable CIS regulations and to assist coaches in their recruiting efforts.
