The Concordia Stingers football program will have three of its regular season games televised this season thanks to a new deal that will see Radio-Canada take over the broadcasting of Quebec and CIS university football for 2009 and 2010.
The first game will be the season opener between the Stingers and the defending Vanier Cup champion Laval Rouge et Or on Sept. 6 in Ste. Foy, Que.
Concordia stadium will be the site of two televised games – the Shrine Bowl between the Stingers and the Sherbrooke Vert et Or on Oct. 3 and the Shaughnessy Cup on Oct. 24 with the McGill Redmen visiting N.D.G.
Overall, Radio-Canada will air 13 games, including eight regular season games in the Quebec University Football League. They will also broadcast Quebec semifinals and the Dunsmore Cup. The Mitchell Bowl, Uteck Bowl and the Vanier Cup are also part of the commitment to university football.
