Stingers top grid stats

Despite a disappointing 43-20 loss to the No. 1-ranked Laval Rouge et Or on Sunday, several members of the Concordia Stingers lead the nation in statistical categories.

Veteran wide receiver Dan Mott caught two passes for 13 yards, giving him 34 receptions for 467 yards. He leads the nation in receptions. His nearest competitor has 29 catches.

Mott is also closing in on a Concordia record. The most receptions in a season by a Stingers is 35. Hubert Marsolais (1991) and André Bolduc (1995) share the record.

Quarterback Scott Syvret leads the country in yards passing. In five games he has completed 101 of 151 passes for 1318 yards. That gives him a 34-yard advantage over the University of Regina's Teale Orban. His 169 yards versus Laval gave him the top spot in the stats for the first time this season.

Finally, linebacker Patrick Donovan moved into first place in tackling. He recorded seven solos and nine assists for 11.5 tackles on the day. Donovan now has 51 total tackles in five games, which is seven more than Regina's Stephen Wilson.

The Quebec University Football League will close down for a mid-term break. The Stingers (4-1) will play host to the Montreal Carabins (4-1) when play resumes on Saturday, Oct. 15. Game time is 1 p.m.
