Slotback Liam Mahoney and offensive tackle Anthony Barrette are the only members of the Concordia Stingers named to the 2010 Quebec University Football League all-star team.
Mahoney, a fourth-year player from Lachine, Que., was the leading receiver on the Stingers with 49 catches for 609 yards and six touchdowns. He was third in the Quebec conference in yards and first in touchdowns scored.
This is Mahoney’s first appearance on the league’s honor roll. However, he was CIS Rookie of the Year in 2007.
Barrette, a native of Verdun, Que., also earns his first all-star award in four seasons with the Stingers. But the six-foot-four, 315-pound lineman was a three-time all-star at Vanier College in the CEGEP AAA league.
Both Mahoney and Barrette are eligible for the CFL draft in the spring of 2011 and have garnered a lot of attention from the professional scouts.
