Star guard Kaylah Barrett scored 19 points to lead the Concordia Stingers to a 71-40 win over the Bishop's Gaiters in Quebec university women's basketball action at Concordia gym last night.
The win breaks a five-game losing streak dating back to Jan. 21. More importantly, the victory puts the Stingers back in second place in the Quebec conference and improves their chances of hosting a home playoff game in a couple of weeks.
Concordia now has a 7-5 win-loss record, while Bishop’s has a 5-6 record and sits in third place. The teams meet again this Friday in Lennoxville, Que.
Barrett, a second-year guard, went six-for-12 from the field for the Stingers, who led 38-25 at halftime and 50-34 after three quarters.
Concordia had three players in double figures. In addition to Barrett's 19, Magalie Beaulieu scored 11 points, while Alex Boudreau came off the bench to score 10.
For Bishop's Gabrielle Chamberland led with 11 points.
