Keegan Treloar, a third-year kicker with the Concordia Stingers was named the RSEQ football conference’s Special Teams Player of the Week for his outstanding performance in his team’s tough 53-52 overtime loss to the McGill Redmen last Saturday.
His 50-yard field goal early in the first quarter is the longest in the CIS this year. The Brandon, Man. native was good on all three of his field goal attempts, connecting from 44, 48 and 50 yards out. He was also five for five on converts giving him 14 points on the day.
Treloar earned two spots in the RSEQ record book for the longest field goal. Fifty yards is the third-longest FG on record. His 48-yarder also gives him the seventh-longest FG in conference history.
The 50-yarder set a Concordia record. The previous mark of 48 yards was held by Rene Paredes who is now playing in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders.
Treloar has connected on nine of 10 field goals this season, giving him a 90-per-cent success rate – tops in the RSEQ and second in CIS.
