Caron, Bastien make RSEQ football honour roll

Two very accomplished athletes were named to the Quebec university football all-star team announced by the RSEQ recently.

Linebacker Max Caron wraps up his university career with his second all-star honour. In 2011, he was an all-star, CIS all-Canadian and the Presidents’ Trophy recipient as the outstanding defensive player in the country.

In eight games this season, he collected 34 solo tackles, 19 assists and six tackles for losses, including three sacks.

Caron is considered a top prospect for the 2014 CFL draft. He was ranked seventh overall by the CFL Scouting Bureau in September.

The Kingston, Ont. native checks in at six foot two, 215 pounds.

Slotback Kris Bastien also makes his second all-star appearance. His first honour came in 2011.

The St. Lambert, Que. resident caught 37 passes for 592 yards and six touchdowns in eight games this season.

Bastien is also on the CFL’s radar with regards to the draft in the spring of 2014. He is listed as the 11th best prospect on the scouting bureau’s list.

The versatile receiver is a great target at six foot three, 205 pounds.
